Woman, baby missing from northwest Miami
Miami police are searching Wednesday for a missing woman and her infant daughter who are thought to be in danger.
Shatevia Rice, 18, was reported missing Wednesday by her mother, Niecey Drayton, police said. According to Drayton, Rice and her six-month-old daughter, Tamia, left their home at 418 NW 48th St. on Sunday to style a friend's hair at her home, police said.
Investigators suspect foul play and think both Rice and her daughter are in imminent danger.
Miami police said Wednesday a family member learned through a social media website that Rice was in danger and unaware of her surroundings.
"It said… he's holding me," Drayton said. "He's holding me… and won't let me go."
Drayton said she already sent back several messages asking Shatevia to help herself.
Family members have told police the missing baby probably hasn't eaten since Sunday because she has a digestive disorder and can't eat without medications.
Rice was last seen wearing a green shirt, black shorts and black shoes. She is 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Miami Police Department's Robbery Unit at (305) 603-6370 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-8477 (TIPS).
